I got the $300~$500 UHP lamp from a friend who took it out of a projector. Its a Philips 150w UHP (Ultra High Pressure) mercury lamp. It's not the same thing as the mercury vapor that came with the yardlight you used to buy for $24 at wal-mart. It cost a lot of money because it's a precise light source. It take a lot of work to get the parts made and lined up for optimal performance. What I am about to do here is NOT TO BE REPEATED UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE MESSING WITH! I used my little lamp tester that I made to melt a small spring....

All HIDs lamps must cool down after a brief interrruption of power before lighting up again, not this one....

This lamp is designed for projectors. What they might be I don't know....
