Can you create a paradise by building material things? Or, how about creating paradise in your imagination?
This was written in 1797 (possibly) and first published in 1816.
Coleridge's note, published with the poem is as follows:
"The following fragment is here published at the request of a poet of great and deserved celebrity [Lord Byron], and, as far as the Author's own opinions are concerned, rather as a psychological curiosity, than on the ground of any supposed poetic merits.
In the summer of the year 1797, the Author, then in ill health, had retired to a lonely farm-house between Porlock and Linton, on the Exmoor confines of Somerset and Devonshire. In consequence of a slight indi...

This scene of "Finding Forrester" cites several poets. First Professor Crawford (F. Murray Abraham) recites part of Samuel Taylor Coleridge's poem "Epitaph on an Infant." Then he and Jamal (Rob Brown) finish each other sentences as they quote Shaw, Twain, and more. Visit my channel for more films that quote poetry....

This clip is a remarkable excerpt from the movie "Pandaemonium" - a movie about the life of Samuel Taylor Coleridge. Also including Lord Byron, William Wordsworth and other poets.
This very scene was the gateway to poetry for me. Not only the poetic work itself is amazing and magical, but the refilming of this is so well done.
You see Samuel Taylor Colerige who just moved to America, in hope for a better future, in hope to sell some of his works. Life has been, and still is, harsh upon him and his family, yet, in this scene he finds true peace and embraces life as never before. All triggered by something he shows his baby... a little miracle of nature about which he forgot.

It may indeed be phantasy, when I
Essay to draw from all created things
Deep, heartfelt, inward joy that closely clings ;
And trace in leaves and flowers that round me lie
Lessons of love and earnest piety.
So let it be ; and if the wide world rings
In mock of this belief, it brings
Nor fear, nor grief, nor vain perplexity.
So will I build my altar in the fields,
And the blue sky my fretted dome shall be,
And the sweet fragrance that the wild flower yields
Shall be the incense I will yield to Thee,
Thee only God ! and thou shalt not despise
Even me, the priest of this poor sacrifice
